Off to a flying start

Activists from Maldon Labour gathered on Saturday to get the formal election campaign off to a flying start.

Parliamentary candidate Peter Edwards and a group of supporters took the message to homes in east and south Maldon as part of a wave of Labour leafleting and canvassing across the country.

Edwards, 33, said: “There are just five weeks to go until we have the opportunity to deliver a Labour government. We want to win in Maldon and across the UK by working hard on the doorstep, meeting voters from all walks of life, and campaigning for a fairer Britain.

“A Labour government will invest in the NHS, prevent the Tories’ extreme spending cuts, tackle the cost of living crisis and ensure the next generation does better than the last.”

Over the coming weeks, Labour activists will be campaigning in Maldon, South Woodham Ferrers, Burnham-on-Crouch and across the constituency.

Peter Edwards is a former financial journalist who has also worked with homeless groups around the UK over the last decade.
